It only comes along once a year.
What we paid no mind to just days ago is back – pumpkin.
I saw a leaf fall yesterday, and I’m like, yep, I’m burning my pumpkin scented candle tonight.
I’m searching pumpkin everything recipes.
Still 100 degrees and humid? Yep, a PSL sounds good.
It’s no joke – the anticipation of pumpkin is serious business.
Want to incorporate pumpkin-feeling into your life?
Here’s some ideas:
Feeling good: Pumpkin spice has become synonymous with all things fall. And stuff takes place in the fall that makes us feel good – football games, our favorite TV shows are back for new seasons, and the weather becomes crisp, creating a nip in the air. Fall conjures up warm, feel-good feelings. Incorporate feel-good feelings into your everyday by enjoying a nice homemade meal, snuggling with a cozy blanket or going for a walk.
FOMO: PSL doesn’t make an appearance all year long, and this triggers the reactance theory. You experience reactance when you feel someone is limiting your choices. If you feel without alternatives, you’re more likely to feel the need to immediately want that limited time item. Consider treating yourself to an annual event that you only do this time of year. Special spa day? Girls trip? Family meal?
Build anticipation: Pumpkin just can’t wait to be the star of the show, and we love it. Seeing pumpkin’s return conjures up feelings of what’s to come, and the promise of fall. This might be the year you perfect your family’s pumpkin pie recipe. Or visit that corny pumpkin patch. Whatever you plan for, make it exciting and build up to the big reveal.
